How You Are Making A Difference
Housing & Shelter:
Providing safe, dignified living conditions for our community’s most vulnerable, including the elderly and those unable to support themselves
Basic Needs & Food:
Providing essential food parcels and vouchers to families and individuals who cannot afford to feed themselves.
Jewel House:
An assisted-living residential home caring for the needs of the most vulnerable members of the Durban Jewish community. These adults live with mental, emotional and physical challenges and live in a loving communal environment.
Kosher Meals-on-Wheels:
Delivering over 500 kosher meals per month to the elderly, infirm, and those unable to cook or shop for themselves.
Medical & Mental Health Support:
Ensuring access to essential medical care, counselling, and psycho-social support for those in need.
Education & Skills Development:
Helping struggling families pay for education, skills training, and access to bursaries to empower the next generation.
Second-Hand Shop:
We operate a second-hand clothing and furniture shop where community members can visit, shop, and leave a donation if they are able. This initiative helps raise funds to support our essential services.
Family Support:
For those who feel lonely and isolated, with families living overseas, DJSS stays in touch and provides emotional support to help alleviate feelings of loneliness.
Crisis Relief:
Providing critical assistance to families facing financial, emotional or medical crises.
